Planting in Garden

Planting in Garden

What you will need:

  • Small Shovels

  • Small Rake (garden tools)

  • Watering Can

How I approached this:

Get creative with this one! You can pick and choose what materials your kiddo uses or you can have them also get their sensory fill and use their hands completely for this one!

Theo and I plant often, but today we planted seeds inside that we will be moving to our garden when big enough. He assisted me in filling pots with dirt and watering the seeds once we were finished putting them into the pots.

You can make this activity both fine or gross motor centered. If you want to make this more fine motor focused (smaller muscles) you can have your child remove the seeds from the packaging and place in the hole one at a time (even while counting) or if they are older and need a bit of a challenge, have them place the seeds in with tweezers!

For more of a gross motor approach (bigger muscles) you can have your child fill and place where you want the planting pots or have them use large shovels to fill the pots with-requiring lots of whole body movements to do so.
