Gymnastics Class

Gymnastics Class

What you will need:

  • Nothing! Just show up!

How I approached this:

I signed Theo up for a 5 week, once a week gymnastics class. He’s done it before, but when he was much younger. Most gyms offer a free class (look into ones near you!) and he loved it.

It’s a great alternative to not being able to be as active as you’d like because of cold weather. I love his gym because they always switch it up. Even though it’s really the same structures, they move them around the gym and combine different ones together and the kids love it.

Theo loves to climb and constantly walks up and rides down the slides. I love seeing him try and interact with others the more we go. Today I stepped back as I watched Theo run and “join” the other children (mixed ages, up to 5).

He hasn't said anything yet but it is wonderful to see him become more comfortable around other children, enough to walk away from me a bit. Most children his age don’t say much, if anything, they tend to look at one another and make movements to figure each other out!

Getting children out, whether it be a class, sport, zoo, museum, etc will help aid those social skills especially if you're home-teaching and they have little exposure to others.
