Any sort of colored connectors (legos, monkeys, etc) I used trains because we have them
This can be done with any sort of colorful connectors-use what you have-don’t need to spend a bunch. I chose the trains because we had them handy and he happened to be interested in them at the time.
I simply showed Theo how to connect the trains and then left them alone. As we played together, I continued to connect them every so often and as I did, Theo also wanted to too, (know it won’t be easy to get children involved at time- YOU have to become excited and interested to get them interested!)
On Theo’s train there are little holes and hooks that connect one another to each other. For a little one this can be challenging. This takes a lot of problem-solving skills and coordination to make it work.
Theo wasn’t able to achieve it the first few tries, but as he kept going it began working out for him (inconsistently). I kept him motivated, (cheered for him), excited and he continued to try!
