How I see Play Dates:

I love play dates. Children learn so much through play and interaction-a little bit of everything to be exact.

They learn to socialize, learn about cause and effect, learn problem solving skills (on a whole new level-with others), learn about theirs and other’s emotions and SO much more.

The question is, “What DON’T children learn from play?” I like to switch up who Theo plays with and where and children who he is familiar with as well as children we don’t know well, (why we visit the park!).

This allows him to see different children in different situations. It’s good to expose them to things like this because the more they see, the more they learn to “handle.” If they need help, you are there to do so.

It’s so hard to get out during this pandemic-so even if they are around children who are family, or they know well, it’s still beneficial because when it comes down to it, every situation/ play date is different!

Side note:

I like to expose Theo to all ages also. He plays a lot with two girls; one is 9 months younger than him and the other is a year and a half older than him.

It’s so cool to see the difference in play and interaction-(yes- they were ALL interacting-whether it was through words or actions!). Children can learn from older children and be superior and helpful to younger.
