Playdough and Toy

Playdough and Toy

What you need:

  • Playdough, anykind

  • Any easily washable toys

How I approached this:

What child doesn’t like putting things where they don’t belong? Play dough is such a great way for a child to explore and improve sensory and motor skills, but when you add to it, it makes it that much more beneficial.

The ways in which the children can now use and benefit just double (yup, just by adding to playdough). When I do this kind of activity with Theo, he, (a one-year-old), will sit there for a while- 10, 20, 30 minutes.

For a one-year-old that is a HUGE amount of time to be working on something. He can now play with just the dough, he can play with just the additive OR he can use both together.

Every parent can benefit from 30, even 20 minutes of “space.” THIS is your activity (Playing WITH them is ideal-but I hear parents say a lot they “need a break”-so here it is). Switching out items (if the child loses interest or time spent has decreased is a great idea if needed). You can literally add anything!

If the child is a little older, making the play dough with them provides your child with an even more rich learning experience!
