So, for this one, I did “Eye Spy” while we were coloring on Theo’s easel. Right now, Theo can solidly identify the color purple off the top of his head.
However, knowing this, I took this “activity” as a learning opportunity for him. I KNEW he didn’t know most all colors yet and some others weren’t so consistently recalled. But he was very interested in his crayons and coloring on his easel. Because he was so interested and concentrated on this, I knew he would be taking it all in and more apt to respond.
Did he know more or all of his colors after this? NO, and it’s not expected. This would be something great to do a few times (since children learn through interest and repetition).
For our little ones to fully understand (or even partially), and to comprehend and recall what he remembers off the top of his head, it would NEED to be done multiple times.
Take all opportunities given by the children to “get in there” and start teaching! (This can be done anywhere or with any color type objects).
