Sensory Bag

Sensory Bag

What you will need:

  • Any size Ziplock bag

  • Jelly like filling (whatever you have. I used left over jell-o from an activity the day before but you can use hair gel, clear vasolines, etc)

  • Items to put in to squish around (glitter, gems, thick stickers)

How I approached this:

For this, I left it open-ended ( are you noticing a theme with me). I gave Theo a few choices as to what he wanted to add to the bag and then did the filling with what I had available.

For the “squishy” part I used left over jell-o from the sensory activity the day before (knew my lesson and I had it available-got my use out of it ). I offered three things to put inside and of course he chose to add every single last bit of each to the bag.

It seemed the best part for him was filling the bag- and that’s OK! He spent little time squishing them around once in the bag. (not every lesson will be successful as you see it to be-totally normal).

Children will “tell” us what they need. Theo didn’t need and benefit as much from that stimulation or maybe he had enough by the time we got to this activity.

It happens!!
