What you need

  • Paint

  • Brushes (sponges, etc)

  • Other art “props”-I also took out Pom poms

How I approached this:

Generally, I would just take some paint out with brushes, but I figured it would be good to switch it up a bit. We don’t typically use pom-poms but I decided we could try something different.

You’d be surprised at what kids could do with a bunch of different materials! He enjoyed this so much he could’ve probably painted all day! I gave him a small white canvas which I purchased at the dollar store, some paint, which I also purchased at the dollar store, and some pom-poms they had found on sale for a buck for an entire bin!

This is one of those low cost activities that is child controlled. They get time to be creative and put their feelings on paper! It’s one of those activities that tends to be really calming without the child knowing. It’s also a great activity to have your child you as you get other things done, and if not a good one to engage with them!
