Theo has been really into nature and animals. We do a lot of nature watching and identifying. He’s also been quite concerned that our chipmunks have been eating all of our bird feed!

So I took this opportunity to get some fine motor practice in! We used Cheerios and string we already had, and got into making some yummy snacks for our birdies! Because he’s a little older, he was even able to help with cutting the strings himself before we began. I will add that the string we used wasn’t the best; the end kept splitting, which made it hard to string, sometimes; but he kept going!

It was just more opportunity to cut! You can have them help you prep if they are ready for a cutting and help them pour the Cheerios into a bowl for stringing  if they are ready to do so. To modify this even more you can allow them to rip tape and wrap up the end of your string to eliminate the string splitting.
