For this one your job is just to PROVIDE manipulatives. Sometimes not planning is better for children, it allows them to explore independently.

Some of the most awesome times to watch Theo play and explore is when he initiates it. In our spare room I like to make manipulatives, art materials, etc. available for him to choose when and how he uses them.

I had specifically put out small cars for fine motor practice (along with a lot of other items for him to access at his convenience). When I do things like this instead of a planned activity I tend to see so much imaginative play and creativity-so rich!

Amazing things happen when you allow children to take learning and exploration into their own hands!
